About Me

My photo
Nancy Azara
My sculpture is made from assembled and painted trees and vines sometimes with gold, silver leaf and encaustic. I also make collages which echo the themes found in the sculptures. Using the tree to work with is a good “fit” for me, as I have always admired trees and I often even as a child felt that they held a metaphor for my experience of life. The sculpture and collages record a journey of ideas, of memory and spirit. They are about the unseen and the unknown and often about the barely defined; most recently, about the cycle of time and my own aging.
